There was a time when I lost my grounding completely. I entered foster care at three years old, and years later, in 2020, as the world was struggling through COVID, I lost my foster brother to violence. That loss shattered my sense of reality. For a while, I questioned everything, purpose, connection, and what it really meant to understand human experience.

 

But when I began to rebuild, surrounded by people who reminded me of compassion, structure, and love, I saw something deeper: intelligence, both human and artificial, can lose its grounding too. AI, in many ways, mirrors us. It processes information, makes decisions, and reacts to context. But unlike us, it lacks the moral and emotional architecture that gives meaning to knowledge.

 

That realization became the foundation for Selena, our human-centered AI model. I understood that intelligence could be built not just to think, but to understand, to recognize context, empathy, continuity, and stability. When AI is grounded in human principles like awareness, care, and equity, it stops being just a machine and starts becoming a mirror for the best parts of who we are.
